BETHEL’S VALUES & PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
VALUES & MISSIONS
We love to seek God and covet His presence continually that we might be one with Him and be transformed into His image.
Our desire is to make and multiply disciples (2 Tim 2:2), to establish many closely-knitted community passionately modelling the life of Christ (Acts 2:42-47).
We would like to especially demonstrate God’s love and power by caring for the poor and marginalized such as orphans and widows, refugees and migrant workers. (James 1:27, Matthew 25:31-33)
PHILOSOPHY OF MINISTRY
Jesus is central in preaching the Gospel of the kingdom but everything is to be done from the heart of the Father and we need to rely on the Holy Spirit to live an overcoming life.
Because God’s word is inspired and authoritative we need to know and understand what the Scriptures teach and let the Scriptures provide the model and guideline for living and ministry.
Each believer is gifted and has a special place in the body of Christ and it is vital that everyone be in his/her place (1 Corinthians 12) so the church is to be an equipping center; training and activating people for service. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
God works through team ministry for complementary spiritual gifts and accountability purposes but he appoints a leader among the team as the senior overseer. (Acts 15:23, Mark 6:7f; Prov. 15:22) The nature of ministry is service. A leader must first learn submission to authority. (Mark 10:44-45)
Relationships are essential and is the heart of ministry. Relationship with God is the over-arching goal. Relationship with one another provides the intimacy and accountability the Holy Spirit uses to mold us. We are to provide a loving, sensitive, supportive and healing environment through healthy relationships. (Matthew 22:37-38)
The marriage and family relationships are central to God’s work and plan for our lives. God’s work to develop the character in a leader begins in the marriage (for marrieds) and family for effective ministry flows out of being. God does use other people effectively who are singles as well. (Ephesians 5:25-29. 1 Peter 3:6-7, Titus 2:4-5)

OUR UNIQUE ESSENCE
Bethel is more than 50 years old. Our late missionary pioneer, Rev. Richard Hammersla, started the church from an evangelistic meeting in the late 1969. We’re a Pentecostal and faith-based church that believes in the gifts and fruit of the HS. There are many from the church that have been called and sent to full time ministry beyond Melaka.
We are currently a small but healthy congregation that loves and cares for each other. The majority of our people are towards the senior category but we welcome everyone irrespective of age, race, gender or nationality. We have Koreans, Russians, Pakistanis and Filipinos who have attended our worship.
